Well hello everyone! I'm back! and to say the Daytona 500 was "different" this year might be an understatement, not only was it crazy from just lap 2 but we had rain and fire this week in Daytona. My driver unfortunately was taken out on the 2nd lap (Jimmie Johnson) which wasn't his fault...I'm usually a huge fan of Elliott Sadler but when he took JJ out...that ruined my night a little bit, at least he acknowledged it was his fault and apologized. Through out the race wrecks happened as usual and I wasn't sure personally would who win the 2012 Daytona 500, Roush had great cars all night so I figured they'd have good finishes nonetheless.
Fire in the 500? You got it, if you didn't see the red flag and what caused the red flag because you fell asleep (like my mom, I had to update her today lol) it was crazy! Personally, I'm not a fan of Juan but I'm so glad he was alright, that was so scary and it was nice to hear the safety worker was fine also...it could have been a lot worse than it was. I was unsure if they'd finish the race and as a Dave Blaney fan I was praying just a little bit that the race would be called...maybe not the best way to win or end the 500 but the guy is a great racer and had to race his way in...he might not have won a cup race yet but he has proven he can race at this level...making races...finishing 3rd...what 3 times? Not bad for not having high end equipment all the time.
I have to say the funniest part of the red flag was hearing about Brad K tweeting lol! I signed into Twitter just to see for myself and sure enough he had within' minutes of the race being stopped...it was great. Seeing the drivers out of there cars and having fun chatting was cool, it's not something you see every single week. When the race resumed...I was excited...as much as I want Blaney to win his first cup race and the 500, everyone looks forward to a great 500 finish.
I have to say I was hoping Greg Biffle might win, since he hasn't won a 500 yet and Matt and Jr have already won and they were both up front as well but congrats to Matt Kenseth on his win, he's proven at his age he can still race and win races...and hopefully another championship is in his future. I thought for just a minute Biffle and Jr might go together and one of them would contend more for the win but I guess Biff wasn't comfortable and didn't want to wreck his team-mate perhaps...either way great finish for Jr and big ups to Paul Menard, and Terry Labonte...yes Terry Labonte for finishing in the top 10! That was amazing.
I'd like to get everyone else's view on the race...I could keep going on and on but than this would be insanely long. I'm going to try and keep it updated every week and post new polls on here and share racing articles mostly from Yahoo or NASCAR.com and any photos I share...credit goes to them...usually I get mine off Yahoo.
I an hoping if this gets big enough and I can get the exposure of getting NASCAR fans together to debate, talk about and enjoy NASCAR together I'll be able to give away prizes weekly...but we'll see. If you know of people who enjoy NASCAR and discussing it and meeting other fans than please like me Race Insider on Facebook and try and check out the blog frequently...I did add Google Ads on here to try and help so I can earn money and give away prizes but not much luck so far getting clicks :( hopefully in time.
